Gordon Bennett of Inverness, CA has been an Environmental Leader since 1993 representing such environmental groups as CalTrans Highway One Lone Tree Slide, West Marin Waste Brigade, and the Open Space District - Bolinas Wildlife Disturbance Committee. His dedication to the environment is evident through his work as a PRNS Elephant Seal Docent, GGNRA/PRNS Salmon Surveyor, and Cypress Grove Tomales Bay Shorebird surveyor. In addition to being the Sierra Club Marin Group Conservation Chair, Gordon has also shown his determination to preserve the environment through his participation with the Sierra Club Bay Chapter Executive Committee.

Gordon's accomplishments also include being honored as Volunteer of the Year with the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation and he was the recipient of the Marin Green Award from the Marin Conservation League.

According to Supervisor Charles McGlashan, "Gordon Bennett is a modern and effective environmentalist. Unwavering in his commitment to preserve habitat and our fauna, Gordon is the best kind of systems thinker. I consider Gordon an invaluable advisor on environmental policy."

EECOM recognized County Supervisor Charles McGlashan as the first Environmental Leader of Marin in 2006, with 250 people in attendance. McGlashan will present the 2008 Award to Gordon.
